THE MONASTERY DOES NOT HAVE A THEATRE, THEREFOR WE EXPECT TO HAVE NO DRAMA
Every member of Willow Grove Monastery is expected to refrain from drama. Engaging in rumors, bickering, criticizing other’s character, blaming or attacking others, making derogatory comments about others’ or their beliefs, scapegoating, and making one’s self out to be a victim of any sort, are just some examples of drama. The problem/difficulty with drama, is that it directs blame and responsibility onto other people or circumstances outside ourselves. While this soothes the ego, it is incredibly disempowering. The whole point of this monastic community environment is to look inside ourselves for solutions. It is by making ourselves stronger and wiser that we overcome the obstacles in life and achieve our dreams, not by insisting on the hopeless task of making other people be perfect.
